The Shanghai Masters, also known as the Bank of Communication Shanghai Masters for sponsorship purposes, is a professional ranking snooker tournament.

History

The event was introduced in the 2007/2008 season and is the second ranking event to be held in China as a result of the growth of the sport in the country.[1] Like the China Open, an extra wildcard round is included before the first round proper, featuring eight players.[2]

The tournament currently takes place at the Shanghai Grand Stage, Shanghai in September and is the second full ranking event of the season.[3]
